Needed for beginning spanish class.

Easy to follow along, bought used came in good condition. The one thing that I didn't care for too much is how some of the activities at end of chapters cover vocabulary that was not used in the chapter - so was lost trying to answer some of the questions. Definitely recommend Supersite Plus its a huge help and comes with mobile app for phone to practice.

One Great Book

Do not be misled by the cartoon on the cover of the book, and the low price. This is one of the best books I have read on self-help and I have at least 100 books on the subject.

This book is based on the concept of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. The suggestions in this book are based on science. This book is one of the best books I have read that will help people with all sorts problems in their lives. Problems such as anxiety, anger, problems in relationships, etc.
These problems have various sources, so I'm not saying this book will help you cure them. However, if those problems are partly because of what's discussed in this book, then in my opinion you can be helped from this book.

There are all kinds of problems and difficulties that people have in life that have a basis in what's discussed in chapters 2,4,5, and 6.

If you are open-minded, and work hard to follow the suggestions in those chapters, then you may see dramatic results in your life.

However, it takes time to get the results because you have been living differently for quite a while. So, with anything else worthwhile it will be necessary to commit time and be patient for real change to occur. You will be rewarded though.

After you read this book, and you decide you are serious about change, you will need to buy the book titled, "Reason to Change" by Windy Dryden (same author). That book will show you how to go about developing the changes you want. It gives you a detailed outline showing you exactly how to do it.

So, reading this book isn't enough. You'll have to get the other book to learn how to apply it to your life.

I have bought hundreds of books here and this is the first review I have done. I am that compelled. Be aware that I am not a mental health student or professional. My opinions are based on my own experiences applying the information from this book.

Excellent starting point

This is a great little book on the subject of REBT. If you're like me and you want immediate profound results, you're never going to get that from a book. This book will however, start to change your thought processes and hopefully get you to the point of accepting your thought patterns and working towards changing them. Another excellent book I would recommend to you is No More Mr. Nice Guy. It is great to accept that you have a problem and then start working towards fixing it. Best of luck.

About the Author
Saadat Hasan Manto, the most widely read and the most controversial short-story writer in Urdu, was born on 11 May 1912 at Samrala in Punjab s Ludhiana district.

In a literary, journalistic, radio scripting and film-writing career spread over more than two decades, he produced twenty-two collections of short stories, one novel, five collections of radio plays, three collections of essays, two collections of personal sketches and many scripts for films.

He was tried for obscenity half a dozen times, thrice before and thrice after independence. Some of Manto s greatest work was produced in the last seven years of his life, a time of great financial and emotional hardship for him.

He died several months short of his forty-third birthday, in January 1955, in Lahore.

He is a disturbing writer who shocks the reader with his candidness, sometimes with his crudity. Whether he writes of sex or the life of prostitutes, on social or on political issues, his stories are full of fire. His frankness greatly agitated the self-styled moralists of his day he had to face charges of obscenity against several of his stories in the court. Discarding emotionalism and slogans, Manto adopted a plain, realistic style with which he explores the depths of human psychology. His stories about the 1947 killings and disturbances are a moving record of the period. Their grim realism evokes the tensions and tragedy of the time with powerful directness. . Manto has the ability to take on the suffering and the painful experience by the people during partition and present it in a very conscise manner without making the story either dramatic or tragic.

Manto's protagonists are prostitutes, mentally insane inmates, criminals, poor people and beggars. His works evoke a great love for humanity and a sharp analysis of contemporary crises. According to Usman, Manto's characters "belong to a working-class world. His prostitute can be pious. His pimp can be honest. His street tough has a kind heart. His factory workers are revolutionaries. But at the same time, he is a realist. He can show the worst crimes and can immortalise the bloody partition of India in his writings."

Manto wrote about anti-imperialism, religious oppression and social misery. The horrific madness caused by India's partition and the creation of Pakistan inspired many celebrated works such as Toba Tek Singh, Naiya Qanun (New Law) and Babu Gopinath. A fine example of Manto's ironic wit is in his description of a communal riot in The Garland:

"The mob suddenly veered to the left, its wrath now directed at the statue of Sir Ganga Ram, the great philanthropist of Lahore. One man smeared the statue's face with coal tar. Another strung together a garland of shoes and was about to place it around the great man's neck when the police moved in, guns blazing. The man with the garland of shoes was shot, and taken to the nearby Sir Ganga Ram Hospital."

About the Author
John Wang is a professor in the Department of Information & Operations Management at Montclair State University, USA. Having received a scholarship award, he came to the USA and completed his PhD in operations research from Temple University. Due to his extraordinary contributions beyond a tenured full professor, Dr. Wang has been honored with a special range adjustment in 2006. He has published over 100 refereed papers and seven books. He has also developed several computer software programs based on his research findings.

He is the Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Applied Management Science, International Journal of Operations Research and Information Systems, and International Journal of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management. He is the Editor of Data Warehousing and Mining: Concepts, Methodologies, Tools, and Applications (six-volume) and the Editor of the Encyclopedia of Data Warehousing and Mining, 1st (two-volume) and 2nd (four-volume). His long-term research goal is on the synergy of operations research, data mining and cybernetics.

The Most Comprehensive German History Trilogy

I saw Mr. Holborn's books on the shelf in a bookstore almost two years ago and I purchased Part III (1840-1945). After I completed that, I immediately went back for the other two, working my way backward. This series has a great deal of valuable information on German social, cultural, economic, political and military history from Roman times through the Reformation, the Thirty Years War, Austro-Prussian rivalry from 1704-1866 for German hegemony, the Napoleonic era and the wars of the French Revolution, the Holy Alliance and the failure of the Frankfurt Assembly, the policies of Bismarck and the forging of the Second Reich in 1871 after victories in wars against Denmark, Austria and France and the constitution of the German Empire. Holborn also delves deeply into the period between 1871 and the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, placing blame squarely on German shoulders where applicable. The postwar era and the Nazi rise to power in 1933 are studied deeply and critically, as is World War II and its immediate outcome. If you only buy one German history series, this is the one to get.

Bel Am-azing!

While the new breed of Bel Ami models undoubtedly do not measure up (no pun intended) to the earlier days of Lukas Ridgeston and Sebastian Bonnet, the book itself is a tour du force from Rick Day and no one who appreciates his brilliant work or the beauty of the Bel Ami boys should be without it. Do not be put off by the price tag - this book is worth it's price and more. You will turn every beautiful page in eager anticipation of what comes next, and Rick Day does not disappoint once. On the contrary, he succeeds in making you (the spectator) feel as if you were part of the whole experience of creating and capturing these fantastical images that play with all your senses. In true Bel Ami style, everyone and everything are beautiful. Long live Rick Day! Long live Bel Ami!

Bel Ami Boys as enhanced by Rick Day

As a taster for his much-anticipated new book RICK DAY NYC MEETS BEL AMI the calendar released earlier proved an appetizer with an example of twelve of the models from that book. As expected, that teaser was a valid promise a very spectacular volume. Rick Day seems to grow more eloquent with each step in his career. His work has been published in numerous publications such as Elle, Details, Teen Vogue and GQ and he has shot advertising campaigns for Gap, Ritani and Rufskin. When not traveling, he is shooting the hottest faces in the industry – and for those who know the Bel Ami models - perfect in youth and body and attributes beyond eyes and looks - the results for this collection live up to that standard. In a generation where beauty is obsession and sex is a product, he has cataloged the world's sexiest exhibitionists in their most intimate moments.

Some of the perfectly fit models are subtly nude while others are semi nude with each in restful inviting repose as only Rick Day knows how to capture that late afternoon ennui feeling. This is a daring collection for Rick as many of the models, revealing their youthful appetites, are in a state of full tumescence. The interesting aspect of how Rick deals with these hunks is the manner in which he doesn’t focus on the excited area but instead simply makes it an accoutrement of being young and ever-ready! Worth every penney

Wow. This is quite an impressive body of work from Rick Day. If you are a fan of Bel Ami then this will definitely satisfy your eyes. The boys in a natural background created beautiful contrasts between flesh-tones and colorful settings of nature. This couldn't have been done better.
