This is probably the worst text book I've ever read. The writing is terrible. It reads like something that was written in a foreign language and then poorly translated. The sentences are extremely long winded without having much actual content.

I am not perhaps terribly drawn to Testino's often conventional, clean, almost digital looking commercial work but do not be deceived - what he does other than for commercial gain is nothing less than stunning.

All his books are a must each in their own way, even including his mini kids' portraits book, but Mario De Janeiro Testino is perhaps his finest. Clearly personal, often sexual but always technically & artistically extremely interesting... perhaps above all... beautiful. Quite simply an essential purchase for photographers or photography fans.

A member of the Dutch Parliament since 1998, Geert Wilders is the founder and leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV) in the Netherlands. Since 2004, he has been living under round-the-clock police protection due to death threats from extremist Muslims. Very well researched en well written

I am a dutchman and I have just read Wilders book. It is very well written en contains a wealth of information, with a thick index and lots of notes. It is clear that Mr Wilders has put in a lot of time and effort to research his book and the result is not only well written but one which reads well too. Mr Wilders is by far the most important politician/personality in the Netherlands today. Since the murder of Dr Fortuyn in 2002 and film- and opinionmaker Theo van Gogh in 2004, the Netherlands has been engulfed in violence and clashes with the muslim community in a scale never seen before in our small well organized and tolerant country. Right up to the smallest community level, Dutch people have witnessed a dramatic 'changing of the guard' in their neighborhoods and streets. Everywhere muslim people started to move in, the typical Dutch social infrastructure slowly disappeared and disturbances and irritations appeared. Within 30 years the Netherlands have seen a enormous immigration flow which has risen from next to zero to almost 1 milion muslims. Mind you, our very small country now harbours 16 million people, so you can immediately see what the problem is. Especially if you know that most muslims always group together in the larger cities, the problems all come together. Mr Wilders was not the first politician to warn against the islamic influx in the country. In the 1980's the first voices started to be heard, mostly in the extreme left and right in Dutch politics. Not much happend (although the right was vilified and demonized). In the 1990's Mr Wilders old party, the VVD continued a very polite discourse on the subject, but again were margelized by the political correct mainstream, supported by a even more virulent political press. Then came Dr Fortuyn in 2002, taking the country by storm only to get murderd right before the elections, after an all out frenzy by the press and the multicultural elite, demonizing him as the next Nazi Fuhrer who would open the deathcamps again, this time for the muslims. He was executed by an extreme leftwing activist (who btw, will be released from prison shortly, serving only... 12 years). The rest is history. Are the Dutch going nuts? No. People are responding ever louder to the call: enough is enough. Stop islam, stop islamization, stop islamic immigration. Stop importing intolerance. On the 12th of september there will be new elections. Let's wait and see. This book is absolutely your money's worth.

April 28 2012 - Dutch MP Geert Wilders represents the more than 1,5-million Dutch voters who at the previous election -- and despite a massive demonisation media-campaign against him -- voted to support the third-largest political party in The Netherlands, a small northern European trading-nation of 16,5-million citizens. The same trading-nation which founded the city of New York, the city of Cape Town, the city of Jakarta, and many other cities worldwide...

You won't easily find this latest book in Dutch bookshops however - even though it's in my opinion, a `must-read' for every Christian who is serious about wanting to oppose the islamisation of their suburbs, their cities and their countries - and the resultant destruction of their own religious and cultural heritage.

Because of the massive demonisation campaign waged against him in the mainstream news media, it's probably not widely known that Wilders is an erudite, well-informed scholar of Islam who travelled widely throughout the Middle East before he embarked on his political career. In other words, he knows what he's talking about.

In the foreword to his book, `Marked for Death, Islam's War Against the West and Me' - formally introduced in the USA on May 1, 2012 - the Dutch statesman is describes by the Canadian Free Speech advocate Mark Steyn as follows:
Steyn: "Geert Wilders, unlike most of his critics, has traveled widely in the Muslim world. Unlike them, he has READ the koran - and re-read it on all those interminable nights holed up in some dreary safe house, denied the consolations of family and friends. One way to think about what is happening is to imagine it the other way round. Rotterdam has a Muslim mayor, a Moroccan passport holder born the son of a Berber imam. How would the Saudis feel about an Italian Catholic mayor in Riyadh?"

"Islamo-fascism is a political doctrine, not a religion:"

Wilders exquisite knowledge of islamic culture and history becomes crystal-clear as he describes what he terms the march of `Islamofascism' in the first chapters of his book - and returning to it often in later chapters. The rise of Islam is described by Wilders in such riveting detail that the reader switches from astonishment to abhorrence -- and even incredulity at the gullibity of Westerners -- in quick succession. He describes, for instance, the way in which the contemporaries of Muhammed in Mecca in 610AD viewed this former caravan-driver, the son of a respected member of the Banu Hashim (Hashimite/Quraish) tribe - the dominant tribe in Mecca.

Muhammed's `revelations' were initially greeted by his bemused contemporaries as being `a medley of dreams,' `inventions', that he was `possessed', a `madman'. Wilders: In Muhammad's day, Arabia was inhabited by Jewish, Christian and pagan tribes. Mecca was a trading hub, with contacts to Ethopia, India, Persia, Egypt and the Levant. It was also an important religious locale where worship centered on the Kaaba - a stone possibly the remnant of a meteorite. The pre-Islamic Kaaba was a shrine housing a pantheon of gods - containing up to 360 idols, with three female deities - Al-Lat, Al-Uzzah and Manat as the most prominent - but also statues of Hindu gods and icons of Jesus and the Virgin Mary. "The Meccans", writes Wilders, were `multiculturalists avant la lettre. They were pluralistic and tolerant, willing to accommodate new religious groups.'

Muhammad did not obey the rules of warfare: helpless prisoners were ordered tortured, slaughtered, massacred...

Wilders believes that only by understanding Islam's aggressive military doctrine of world-domination, will Christians be motivated enough to want to defeat it actively. He emphasises the personality of the faith's founding father, Muhammed, in lurid detail the way in which Muhammed's growing intolerance grew as his power grew - which he gained primarily through incredibly vicious violence: by attacking the all-important caravan trade between Mecca and slaughtering anyone who opposed him.

"From Medina,' wrote Wilders, `Muhammad began raiding the camel caravans of Arab traders... these plundering raids are called ghazi in Arabic, from which the (nazi) word razzia is derived. Muhammad organised 82 razzias - twenty-six he personally led. He frequently violated the pre-Islamic Arabs' chivalrous warcode: "allowing him to defeat his opponents who obeyed the rules and who simply could not imagine that their enemy would not do the same.'
"Because these regimes have made `the universal truth' into a political ideology, they do not obey rules of warfare..." For example: In Badr in March 624, about 300 Muslims led by Muhammad defeated a Meccan escort three times their number and captured several important Quraishi leaders (i.e. members of Muhammad's own tribe). The spoils of battle went to Muhammad in accordance with a Koranic revelation that came to Muhammad immediately after the battle. It ordered: "The spoils belong to Allah and the Apostle'. Not content with mere robbery, Muhammad had the captured Quraishi leaders massacred, because, according to the Koran, `a prophet may not take captives until he has fought and triumphed in his land.' When people objected to this massacre, Muhammed had them slaughtered too. Wilders describes the way in which Muhammad ordered people to be tortured: for instance, by making fires on their chests and then cutting off their heads; cutting off their hands and feet and dumping them to die in the desert, even with crucification...

He emphasizes over and over again that only because they were willing to fight back, did the Christian Byzantines manage to hold off the onslaught of Islam against that magnificent city of Constantinople for 800 years - as did Frankish king Charles Martel at the French city of Tours, and the Viennese fought back against the Muslim sieges.

`Christianity was saved in Europe solely because they have been able to resist the Mohammedans by the sword...' US president Teddy Roosevelt

Wilders quotes an American president he greatly admires, Teddy Roosevelt, as noting the importance of this willingness to fight back against the Mohammedan invasion with the sword: "Roosevelt,' he wrote, `understood the importance of the victories at Tours and Vienna for the survival of Western civilization. Christianity was saved in Europe solely because they have been able to resist the Mohammedans by the sword.'

Roosevelt wrote in his 1916 book ` Fear God and Take Your Own Part ': "Wherever the mohammedans have complete sway, wherever the Christians have been unable to resist them by the sword, Christianity has ultimately disappeared. From the hammer of (Frankish King) Charles Martel to the sword of (Polish King Jan Sobieski in Vienna), Christianity owed its safety in Europe to the fact that it was able to show that it could and would fight as well as the Mohammedan aggressor'... Roosevelt also warned:

"To make a statement that all religions are the same is as naive as saying that all political parties are the same. Some religions and belief systems give a higher value to each human life and some religions and belief systems give a lower value. As generations of Americans past, our time has come to defend the beliefs and values that made this nation great, such as equality before the law... there are such `social values' today in Europe, America and Australia only because during those thousand years, the Christians of Europe possessed the warlike power to do what the Christians of Asia and Africa had failed to do - that is to beat back the Moslem invader.'
Close link between the Nazis and the Muslims: "Eichmann gave a tour of Auschwitz to the grand mufti of Jerusalem, and showed him the gas chambers..."

Wilders also dwells in detail on the close link between the Nazis and the M uslims. "The Nazis recognized in Islam a kindred evil soul,' he writes, noting:

`Adolf Hitler deplored the fact that the Germanic Franks had won in Tours in 732: `Had Charles Martel not been victorious, then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glories the heroism and opens up the seventh heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world. Christianity alone prevented them from doing so,' he quotes Hitler...'
And this admiration between Nazis and Muslims is mutual: `In 1941, Mohammad Amin al-Husseini, the grand mufti of Jerusalem, who led several anti-Jewish pogroms in the Middle East in the 1920s and 1930s, visited Hitler and Himmler in Berlin. Auchmann - overseer of the Holocaust - gave him a private tour of Auschwitz and showed him the gas chambers. At the post-war Nuremberg trials, Dieter Wisliceny, Eichmann's deputy, revealed: 'the mufti was one of the initiators of the systematic extermination of European Jewry and had been a collaborator and advisor of Eichmann and Himmler in the execution of this plan. He was one of Eichmann's best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures'.

` Ironic that his critics accuse Wilders and other patriots of fascism and nazism... `

Wilders writes: "It is ironic that some of my critics accuse me and other patriots - who defend our national identity against Islamization and who honour Charles Marte and John III Sobieski as heroes of Western civilization - of fascism and nazism. It is Islam that lays claim to that charge.'

In Chapter 13, `To Turn the Tide', Wilders writes that Islamisation can be stopped - but it takes courage and a steely will to succeed. He warned: `As Franklin Roosevelt declared: "Let not the defeatist tell us that it is too late. It will never be earlier. Tomorrow will be later than today'.

He exhorts his countrymen and his fellow-Europeans to fight back - by pressuring their governments to close the borders to the tide of non-Western immigrants. "In 2010 alone, 52,000 non-Western immigrants entered the Netherlands, of whom more than 19,000 hailed from Islamic countries. I agreed with (two other major parties in the Netherlands, the liberal VVD and the Christian-Democrat Alliance CDA) that the cabinet would aim to reduce the number of non-Western immigrants by a very substantial number by 2014. This could lead to a decrease of 50 percent - and to also restrict the `family formation and family reunification' policies through which many non-Western immigrants are brought to the Netherlands by family members. "Furthermore, labour immigration from outside Europe is no longer allowed unless the employer can prove that it was impossible to fill a specific vacancy with Dutch or European employees'. Further requirements are that all newcomers must be obliged to integrate. to become Dutch in its political spirit, in its language and in its culture: "Those who fail their civil integration examination will... have their temporary rsidence permits revoked.'

From his hiding place, Geert Wilders not only exhorts us to fight back, but he also sends Christians worldwide a message of hope when he writes:

WE MUST BAN THE BURKA - PEOPLE'S FACES ARE THEIR IDENTITY:
"We must cherish our national identity. We must ban the burka - people's faces should not be hidden in society, for it is our faces that give us our identity and our fundamental means of communication with others. And (...) all it takes is courage. The Dutch example shows that when people overcome their fear, David can defeat Goliath. For decades, the multicultural elite suppressed dissent by denouncing as racist anyone who questioned their pro-Islam, pro-mass-immigration dogma. But finally, after silently watching for years the immense damage to our nation by the elite's policies, the Dutch people had enough. In the face of all the threats and intimidation levelled against my supporters, enough people had the courage to vote for the PVV that we fundamentally altered our country's policies'.

The high price paid by Geert Wilders and others -- such as the murdered political-science professor Pim Fortuyn; the murdered Dutch self-described `court-jester' Theo van Gogh; the exiled Dutch-Somalian MP Ayaan Hirshi Ali -- all fighting for their hard-won freedom in this small northern-European country, has already been immense.

Geert Wilders was also marked for death for criticizing Islam, writing: "For asserting our rights to say what we really think about the political ideology that disguises itself as a religion, we have been hounded by Muslims seeking to make an example of us. `Offend us,' they are saying to the world, andyou will end up in hiding like Wilders, attacked like (Danish cartoonist) Westergaard, or dead like Van Gogh"...

Wilders describes his current life as follows: "I live in a government safe house, heavily protected and bulletproof. Since November 2004, when a Muslim murdered Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh for the crime of offending Islam, I have been surrounded by police guards and stripped of nearly all personal privacy. I am driven every day from the safe house to my office in the Dutch Parliament building in armoured police cars with sirens and flashing blue lights. I wear a bulletproof jacket when I speak in public. Always surrounded by plaincvlothes police officers, I have not walked the streets on my own in more than seven years... Why do I need this protection? I am not a president or a king; I am a mere member of the Dutch Parliament, one of 150 elected parliamentarians in the Tweede Kamer, the House of Representatives of the Netherlands, a small country of 16.5-million in Western Europe.'...

Yet Wilders is asking Christians to show similarly great courage: "We will not be picking up axes and breaking into people's homes. But we will not remain silent either. Moderation in the face of evil is not what our age needs. We must uncap our pens; we must speak words of truth. We are facing a determined enemy who is striving through all means to destroy the West and snuff out our traditions of free thought, free speech, and freedom of religion. Make no mistake: if we fail, we will be enslaved.'

A Breath of Fresh Air

Geert Wilders new book, "Marked for Death" is an absolute must read and a breath of fresh air. In a methodical way it traces exactly why Islam has been such a curse for all those societies where it is practised. In the words of Mr. Wilders, "Throughout history, Islam has brought poverty, social strife, backwardness, intolerance, and tyranny to societies where it was practiced. Journal of Exposition

If you've ever wanted to learn the younger side of Celestia and Luna this is the MLP book for you. Hard core fans will be able to piece together history of Equestria and remember key events from Hearth's Warming Eve. With the first section of the journal being the diary entries of both sisters from their own perspective and the second being the diary entries made by the Mane 6 from Season 4 of MLP:Friendship is Magic.

Basic Events Outlined

In the journal you begin with the coronation of Elsa & Anna after a brief explanation of how they became the Princesses of Equestria, I mean Celestia & Luna. Afterwards you hear about how the sisters picked the location for their castle. It then tells of how Luna befriends a manticore and how the castle is constructed. It then tells of a encounter with a certain prissy unicorn princess. You then learn of Celestia's love of books and Luna's more adventurous side where she discovers a herd of zebras. The next major conflict comes when the two sisters conflict over air space with griffons. Then take a trip to the Crystal Empire where the Crystal Heart has been stolen by a dragon. Finally journey through Celestia and Luna rising and lower both sun and moon as well as finding out about themselves.

Approached by Star Swirl the Bearded directly after the events of Hearth's Warming Eve, which led to the founding of Equestria, Luna and Celie (as Luna affectionately calls her sister in her entries) were chosen to rule over this new land. The only reason the entries give as to why they were chosen was that they are alicorns; the combination of Earth, Pegasus and Earth ponies. It also introduces the two sisters as blank flanks who have yet to find their special calling in life. The sisters claim that while they are presumably decades old (Luna says she is many times older than Princess Platinum), they do not have their cutie marks because alicorns age differently than a regular pony. Nothing is said about their parents or who told them such information. You then learn about the fear and worry both sisters have over becoming princesses but they soon get excited and see themselves more as protectors of the land rather than rulers. It also pokes fun at Luna trying to write i the Royal Canterlot Voice, from the episode Luna Eclipsed which takes place on Nightmare Night, where Luna then shifts into normal writing mode saying her and Celie use to play together using that voice. After searching the lands of Equestria both sisters agree to build their castle in the Everfree Forest, not only because it's mysterious but because they also see the Tree of Harmony which Star Swirl informs them is indeed the tree from legend. Luna accounts how she's the one who wanted the weird trap doors, the paintings without eyes and the hooves holding torches. Later Celie is over joyed about the idea of a library with a secret area for her to hide away in. During the construction of the castle a group of ponies looking for building materials go missing. Luna rushes to find them and encounters a mantircore. Upon failed attempts at defeating the enemy, Celie comes to her side. After subduing the beast with the aid of Star Swirl, the manticore breaks down and cries. Luna, much like Fluttershy, is able to understand the crying of the animal and realizes the ponies were taking materials from his house not even knowing it was his. This leads to the befriending of the manticore as well as many other Forest creatures by Luna. Once the castle is completed, King Bullion the king of the unicorns and his daughter Princess Platinum visit. The Princessis hardly amused by the idea of Celie and Luna ruling over them and states they should have asked her to rule. She even calls the pair of sisters blank flanks and can't believe she is to be ruled over by two ponies who don't even have their cutie marks yet. Luna then uses her knowledge of the castle to her advantage and using the Canterlot Voice combined with a trap door and Melvin the manticore, scares the Princess into submission. With Princess Platinum now for the two sisters' rule, she has tapestries (the ones Rarity later want to restore) created by unicorns to adorn the walls of the castle. Next the rest of the leaders and sidekicks from Hearth's Warming Eve come to visit the castle (Clover the Clever, Star Swirl, Smart Cookie, Private Pansy and Chancellor Puddinghead) It's also revealed Star Swirl is working on time travel spells and hopes the two sisters can help him with it. Melvin the Manticore then tells Luna of a forbidden area in the Everfree Forest. Luna quickly investigates and stumbles upon zebras who all talk in rhyme just like Zecora. At first they fear this winged beast is a manticore. After telling them she is an alicorn and a princess and ruler of this land no less, the zebras tell Luna of how manticores use to attack the peaceful zebras so using potions and spells the zebras were able to make a protective shell to keep the manticores away. Thus the manticores gave up and left them alone which turned that area of the forest into a forbidden place for manticores. Star Swirl then asks Luna to attempt to move the stars which proves difficult and Luna fails at her attempt. But Star Swirl has finally gotten a age and time spell mixed up and travels through time and ages back to a younger point in his life. Upon later entries, Celie asks Star Swirl about the Star symbol on the tree of Harmony and if they'll ever meet this pony (Twilight obviously) and Star Swirl gets a gleam in his eye hinting that they will. Conflict soon arises again when during some flying with Commander Hurricane, Celie and Luna bump into griffons. The griffon leader Gregor the griffon states that their original peace treaty with the pegasus ponies about air space borders is null and void because that was before the land was Equestria. After a threat of war between the griffins and pegasus, Luna consults Melvin and he informs her that griffins have a sweet tooth and that Gregor loves eclairs and that talking in rhyme like a zebra might confuse Gregor just like it had the manticores when they found the zebras. Luna then has Star Swirl make some eclairs and in her Canterlot Voice she speaks in rhyme to Gregor and after eating the eclairs he admits defeat and the peace treaty over airspace is reinstated. With that war avoided another one brews in the Crystal Empire with the crystal heart stolen by a dragon. Princess Amore calls upon the protectors of Equestria to aid her in talking to the dragon. The crystal heart had actually been mined out of the Crytalline Mountain which had been the home of the dragon. He had been sleeping at the time and when he later found out the ponies had taken crystals from his territory is when he stole the crystal heart. Celie tries to reason with him that it's important and the Crystal Empire will fall without it, he treats it as a mere trinket. Celie then uses her own Canterlot Royal speaking voice and scares the dragon into submission. In the last few entries of the diary Luna and Celie awaken to a dark sky and discover that the unicorns have been sacrificing their magic to bring day and night. You see, it takes 6 uncirosn to raise and set the sun and moon. After doing it for a while the unicorn loses its magic forever. Star Swirl had been the only unicorn ever to be able to raise and lower it without losing his magic. But upon that day they had run out of adult unicorns and Star Swirl attempted to do it himself. Failing his beard turns from brown to grey and he loses his magic. Luna and Celie are then informed that Alicorns have a different type of magic and are actually made stronger by raising and lowering the sun and moon. Upon trying, they both succeed with Luna lowering the moon and Celie raising the sun. Rejuvenated by this, the sisters are able to restore the magic of the unicorns and finally obtain their cutie marks. Celie gains a sun on her flank and Luna a crescent moon. Luna tells how she now has a purpose and can not wait to do it again and is happy she can do this for as long as she's princess... (Until she becomes Nightmare Moon of course...)

The Journal of the Two Sisters concludes there with the next section being the Journal of Friendship which are the entries made by the Mane 6 over the course of Season 4. The book ends with a few pages of blank lines to write your own stories of friendship.

Overall the book is written to be an easy read book. I believe the biggest word it uses is amalgamation but in general the writing is not complicated and can be read by younger kids (although they might not fully understand it). While not the most intersting or well written book for older kids, if you're a fan of the show then you'll love it.

The book is wrapped in a removable sleeve (jacket?) which is the bottom half of the picture as shown in the item listing. Underneath is the words the Journal of the Two Sisters with the back being the crest of the two sisters circling the moon and sun as seen in the show. Each character has their own stationary styled pages and different hoof-writing (hand-writing). The embellishments of the pages (borders, little bits of art) make it fun to look at and makes it feel more like a journal/diary.

It's a fine read for younger kids and fans of the show and a nice cosplay item as well because of how its made. It's a good pick up to read so 10/10 would read again.

Enjoyable, good world building, but INCOMPLETE PRODUCT!

I got the Kindle Version, which is cheaper, but for a good reason. I just learned from a friend who got the physical book that my kindle version is abridged! The physical book includes all the entries that the Mane 6 made during season 4 (along with Pinkie Pie going off on a Pinkie ramble that is apparently hilarious), but the Kindle version doesn't include any of that. So, if you are wanting to save a bit of money and have the book be more portable, beware, for you won't get the complete product!

So great! Its everything I had hoped for, as an avid brony/pony collector, I love this, it looks straight out of the show and even shares a quote spoken in the show, which I found rather cool. It's not quite as long as I had had thought, which I'd say could be the only relal drawbck, and a small one at that, overall, awesome, would recommend to any fellow brony/pony collector out there.
