About the Author
Rick Cottrell, pastor, teacher, evangelist, founder of Eagles Ridge Ministries and wannabe writer has been “born again” for over 39 years. He is currently serving as the pastor of the Linden Church of God in Linden, Tennessee. He has been there for the past 25 years. He regularly preaches revivals and participates in camp meetings and conferences. He holds the ministry rank of bishop in the Church of God denomination, Cleveland, Tennessee. Within his denomination he has had the opportunity to serve on several boards and committees including the State Evangelism Board, State Youth Board, State Council and as a Pastoral Covenant Facilitator. He considers being married to his wonderful wife Pam for the past 35 years to be the highlight of his life. Together, they have two wonderful daughters, Brittany and Kelly. They are gifts from God.

It is both misunderstood and a source of great frustration for those who are entangled in it

Backsliding is a major problem and is a very controversial subject amongst Christians. It is both misunderstood and a source of great frustration for those who are entangled in it.
It brings up very deep questions like "Can a true Christian do it, and if so to what extent, and what does the Bible say about it?"
Pastor Rick Cottrell who has a deep tender heart for the lost and the hurting, prayerfully pulls from the pages of Scripture, and offer encouragement and hope on this powerful subject.
"Starting Over... Again" is an excellent read and an amazing study for all Born Again believers who wish to deepen their walk with Christ.
Backsliding is very much a part of the sanctification process whereby believers are in the lifelong process of being refined, and further conformed to the image of Christ. This is not something that happens overnight. Rather, it is a constant struggle, and it's why Paul often refers to it as "running the race," or "fighting the good fight." In short, there will be times where believers falter; where they look away from their target, Jesus Christ, and get entangled in sin.
For this reason, Pastor Rick Cottrell offers many comforts to believers. For instance, he reminds them that the epic failures of some of the Bible's greatest saints (Abraham, David, Peter, Moses, etc.) are there in the Scriptures for our instruction. They remind us that no true believer is immune from remaining sin this side of Heaven.
He also very tenderly admonishes his readers to return to the means of grace: public worship, the preaching of the word, prayer, and the study in the Scriptures. He also offers practical advice on meditating and praying from the Scriptures, practices which have aided many a Christian over the ages.
"Starting Over... Again" is filled with Scriptural and practical encouragements to saints who struggle with sin. It is both helpful and pastoral. I highly recommend it.

MY FAITH ACCELERATED

This book is one of the best books I have read in a very long time. I have only been active in my Christian faith for almost 2 years now and Pastor Rick Cottrell explained questions I have had but was to afraid to ask anyone. Just because we have backslid on God he is a forgiving God and he doesn't backslide on us ever! It is never to late to renew your relationship with God! This is an amazing book and I recommend it to anyone who might have ever backslid on God or just want a great book to read! When I started reading this book I just couldn't put it down till I was done with it. Starting Over Again is informative and enjoyable for anyone to read and can't wait for the next one!
